Funeral services for Ray Owens, 93, of Sulphur Springs will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rusty Posey officiating and Bro. Al Davis assisting. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Ricky Ables, Gary Ables, Dean Owens, Mike Owens, Bill Owens, and Dale Owens serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Slater and John Slater. Visitation will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Owens passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Carriage House Manor. He was born on May 11, 1923 in Allene, Arkansas, the son of Ira Ray Owens and Thelma Reed Owens. He married Lois Fennell on February 21, 1948 in Sulphur Springs, she survives. Mr. Owens retired from Rockwell, and was a Cattle Rancher and a member of First Assembly of God Church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Ron Owens and wife Laura of Sulphur Springs, Larry Owens and wife Beth of Temple, daughter, Linda Galligher and husband Carl of Sulphur Springs, brother, Coy Owens of Sulphur Springs, sisters, Agnes Ables and Arnold of Tyler, Bernice Fitzgerald and Delvin of Sulphur Springs. Grandchildren, Jason Owens and Kelly of Fort Worth, Duane Galligher and Jill of Austin, Kevin Owens and Beth Ann of McKinney, Laura Mungia and Thomas of Arlington, Sierra Owens of Sulphur Springs, and Savannah Owens of Sulphur Springs. Great-grandchildren, Jenacee, Jaiden, Kaylee, Claire, Scarlette, and Ian, and step-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Lukas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Oscar, Alfred, and Buford Owens, sister, Pearl Wood.
