Like many other organizations in Hopkins County, the Chamber of Commerce sponsored High School Leadership Class was busy lending a helping hand to the Empty Stocking Program, on Thursday morning, as they filled stockings with candy, arranged toys, and aided in getting things ready for delivery on Saturday.

"It helps the youth in the leadership program learn about Empty Stocking and the great things the program does for the people of Hopkins County," expressed High School Leadership Coordinator, Meredith Caddell. "It helps teach them the importance of giving back and to count their many blessings, during an important season of the year. We lend a hand each year during our December session and it has always been a highlight of the year!"

"When I see the many, many gifts and Christmas goodies that are assembled for release to the public, on Saturday, it makes me aware just how hard people work all year, to make certain that everyone in Hopkins County has a good Christmas," expressed Leadership member, Jackson Massey, as he filled stockings with candy. "You stop and think just how important the effort is to many families who need help at Christmas time. They could be the family down the street, the family that sits with you at church, or that you see at the grocery store, and this program helps them anonymously provide a joyful Christmas!"

"You feel good when you contribute and give back to the community," expressed Dairy Festival Queen and Leadership Class Member, Bailey Petty. "This is the most wonderful community that gives back and makes certain that everyone is taken care of, and you feel awesome when you can be a part of helping!"

Meanwhile, following their morning session of helping with Empty Stocking, the Leadership Class was off to hear a presentation by the Holy Highway Girls, who were to tell about their experiences of rebuilding a life, after making mistakes, and then the class was to assemble at the CanHelp offices, to learn about that outreach program in our community, as they complete their December session.

High School Leadership Class is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and is for senior students, who are chosen to participate and develop leadership skills that will aid the community, and benefit the students as they graduate high school.
