Hottest Job in Town?
Church Group Roofs Local Charity
in Soaring Temperatures
by: Bobby McDonald
It's perhaps the "hottest" job in town, as members of the Little City Baptist Church, from Madill, Oklahoma, came to Sulphur Springs this week, and began roofing the Chrysalis House, located on Jefferson Street, as part of their summer mission project. Little did the native Oklahomans know, they chose some of the hottest weather, this region has experienced, with unseasonable temperatures near 100 degrees. "My truck thermometer just read 98 degrees!" informed one of the group, as they worked on Tuesday afternoon, in the sizzling heat.
"We've sent someone after some gatorade!" exclaimed another member of the group. "It will 'bake' you standing outside in this intense heat!"
The project to put a new roof on the building that houses Chrysalis House is a joint effort with the Little City group providing the labor and WOWS - Women Offering Women Support purchasing the necessary over $21,000.00 in materials to complete the job.

Members of the Little City Baptist Church in Madill, Oklahoma, are staying at the local Cross Country Cowboy Church, while in Hopkins County and completing the project.
Of course, Chrysalis House and WOWS are non-profit organizations working to help women and children in this area. The facility when opened will be able to house women and their children that are homeless or displaced and will provide them with a number of services.

"We can't express our thanks enough to everyone who is lending a hand in this project," expressed Tammy Pearson, with Chrysalis House. "The group can use some help, especially with this intense heat, so if anyone from the community would be willing to lend them a hand, and a hammer, please call (903)885-0676, and offer a helping hand!"
