

Hot Chocolate, The Perfect Way to
Chase Away Winter's Chill

It's cold outside, the wind is blowing, and you're looking for something to warm you up! Well, nothing chases away winter's chill any better than a cup (or two) of hot chocolate. Whether served plain or with additional embellishment from whipped cream, marshmallows, and other flavorings, hot chocolate is the perfect way to relax and add warmth on a cold day or night.
Try the following recipes that add additional flavorings to the standard recipe, for a new twist to one of your favorite beverages:
Peppermint Hot Chocolate

4 cups milk
1 (11.5 oz) jar of hot-fudge topping
3 tablespoons peppermint flavored syrup
Minature Marshmallows and Peppermint sticks for garnish
In a medium sauce pan, combine the milk, fudge topping, and syrup,
mixing well.
Bring mixture to a simmer, over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
Pour into four mugs and garnish with marshmallows and a peppermint
stick in each cup.
Serves 4

Almond Hot Chocolate

6 cups milk
1 cup ground sweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
6 tablespoons almond-flavored liqueur
1/4 cup almond-flavored syrup
Garnish - slice almonds (optional)
In a medium sized pan, bring milk to a simmer, over medium low heat.
Whisk in the ground sweetened chocolate and cocoa, mixing well.
Add, almond flavored liqueur and almond syrup, stirring to mix well.
Pour into six mugs and garnish with almonds.
Serves 6

Cherry Hot Chocolate

2 cups milk
2 cups half & half
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup maraschino cherry juice
Garnish - Whipped Cream, maraschino cherries,
grated semi-sweet chocolate
In a medium sauce pan, combine milk and half & half. Bring to a simmer,
over medium-low heat. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Whisk in the cocoa powder.
Add cherry juice, stirring well to combine.
Pour into cups and top with whipped cream, dust with grated chocolate and top with
a maraschino cherry! Can add chopped nuts, as well.
