Four-Year Old Youth Injured
in Horse Accident, Sunday Afternoon

A four-year old youth from Bogota was injured shortly after noon on Sunday, at a horse event at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center. The youth, who was one of the participants in the event, was kicked in the head by a horse and immediately needed medical attention. She was flown to Children's Medical Center in Dallas via "careflight" with head lacerations and undetermined injuries.

A report at approximately 7:00 p.m., stated that the child had received a number of "staples" for the lacerations and was in stable condition, awaiting being awaken from sedation, but was resting peacefully.

Thoughts and prayers from Hopkins County continue to be for the full recovery of the child. Indications were that the child walked behind a horse, owned by someone else, and the horse kicked the child, striking her in the head.
