It was the Sulphur Springs Wildcat Marching Band, school students from all across Hopkins County, City and County Officials, and the general public that joined together on the Downtown Square in Sulphur Springs, at the "eleventh hour" to mark the sacrifices all veterans have made for our freedoms, and to ceremonially break ground for the Veteran's Memorial. These were all observances of the national Veteran's Day, in Hopkins County.

These Como-Pickton FFA students were in attendance at Thursday's Veteran's Program.

Thursday's program began with the band playing a number of patriotic selections and Master of Ceremonies, Art Romanat, introduced a number of county and city officials, including the County Judge and Mayor. Then, a number of Hopkins County Veterans were introduced, as well as members of the Veteran's Memorial Committee.

Art Romanat served as the Master of Ceremonies.

Thursday morning's activities ended with a ground breaking ceremony, for the proposed Veteran's Memorial, to be constructed on the downtown square. Announcements were made that the committee is still seeking names and donations for the tribute to Hopkins County's veterans.
