83rd Annual HKK Presentation

Master of Ceremonies, Craig Roberts, was a king in the magic castle, for Saturday
night's HKK Presentation.

Senior HKK member, Haley Reynolds, entertained the crowd with
this vocal number, before the members and pledges were presented.

It began as a "hiking" club, back in 1926, and the tradition of HKK has continued in Sulphur Springs for the past 83 years. Senior girls ask a junior pledge to be their little sister and what is known as the traditional initiation, finds the pledges going through a week of eating eggs, riding a stick horse, being auctioned in a slave sale, and repeatedly "telling the world" that they "hate boys!" However, all jokes are aside and those "scums" that only months before were wearing dirty clothers, suddenly become a princess on presentation night!

Well, Saturday night's traditional presentation and ball, was no exception. Each senior member was presented along with the pledge class that will assume the tradition next year. And, this year's presentation featured a gala affair in the auditorium of the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, that had been decorated as a magic castle, complete with a carriage and their very own, "king of the court."
