Chamber of Commerce Announces
High School Leadership Class Members
For 2010-11

In a recent announcement, Meredith Caddell, CEO of the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, has announced the members of the 2010-11 High School Leadership Class, beginning its 17th year of activities. Students will again begin their nine month class with a Ropes Challenge Course in September and continue with five other classes during the school year, where they will learn about local county government and law enforcement, eithical decision making, educational opportunities, poverty and crisis, cultural sensitivity, and local tourism and quality of life.

The students will end the sessions with a trip to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for a day of learning, fun, and fellowship.

Local sponsoring businesses fund the program for the students, and include: Alliance Bank, Bulkley & Associates, Dhawal R. Ram, M.D., Hopkins County Dairy Festival, Northeast Texas Farmers Co-op,  Southwest Dairy Museum, Southwest Mobile Imaging, Town and Country Cleaners, and Winzen Film, Inc.

Selected for this year's class (from over 70 applicants) includes:

Laine Anderson, Summer Ball, Kasey Blezinger, Hayley Brock, Zack Byrd, Courtney Cook, Jessica Cowley, Kendall Eckert, Abbey Eddins, Jalie Eppars, Taylor Hale, Katie Hammons, Frankiesha Hawkins, Cassi Hill, Cassie Long, Seth Maeker, Emily Mason, Jackson Massey, Megan Massey, Melissa Mayo, Caitlyn Nix, Pablo Olguin, Samantha Owens, Bailee Petty, Melissa Phillips, Kristin Ramsey, Mallory Rawson, Tripp Reeves, Brady Romans, Megan Salters, Sarah Sapaugh, Kate Smith, Taryn Smith, Chris Sorley, Blaine Surber, Kayla Townsend, Ben Watson, Alissa Welch, Ashley Wilburn, and Elexa Wood.

Six to eight more students, representing the rural schools of Hopkins County will be named to the class once the school term begins.

Congratulations to these students on their selection to participate and learn in this year's High School Leadership Class.
