Travis Hicks, Hopkins County 4-H Senior, Receives Scholarships
Congratulations to Travis Hicks who received scholarships from the Texas State 4-H Scholarship Program and Hopkins County 4-H Council. The Texas State 4-H Scholarship Program gives over 2 million in funds to graduating seniors throughout Texas each year. The Hopkins County 4-H Council awards a $500 scholarship each year as well.
Travis Hicks has been enrolled in 4-H for the past 9 years and is currently a member of the Stars of Texas 4-H Club in Sulphur Springs. He served as President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Parliamentarian for his community club and President and Vice-President for the County 4-H Council. His project participation included: public speaking, foods and nutrition, community service, leadership, recreation, health, and clothing. His awards in 4-H consist of many honors through competing in educational presentation contests, fashion show, food show, and project show as well as the 4-H Leadership Award in 2009. Travis is also very active at Sulphur Springs High School in Key Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, and Theater. He has been on the honor roll every year and will graduate in the top 10% of his class. Travis is an active member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs and will attend Dallas Baptist University in the fall with a goal to go into church ministry.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Texas State 4-H Foundation and Hopkins County 4-H Council for funding these scholarships to promote the 4-H system: 4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.
