

Solutions for Challenging Times

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service is in the business of education - improving lives, improving Texas. "Family Issues Summit: Solutions for Challenging Times" is a conference planned to address several topics of interest to teachers, church staff and workers, nurses, Extension volunteers, caregivers (either of children or adults), and others.
The conference will be held on Wednesday, June 17, with registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by keynote address, three concurrent session opportunities, and capnote address, ending around 3:30 p.m. Certificates will be available for 5 clock hours. Lunch is included with the $25 fee.
Hopkins County's own Dwight Alexander will be the opening keynote speaker as he addresses how his personal encounter with tragedy has taken him through many doors. Concurrent session topics include: Why Financial Literacy Matters, Especially Now; Building Strong Parent-Child Relationships in Challenging Times; The Sandwich Generation - Tips for Making an Open Faced Sandwich; 4 REAL - Communicating with Your Teen; Feeding Your Family without Starving Your Wallet; Staying Healthy Puts Dollars in Your Pocket; and Steps to Success. The capnote speaker will address the value of volunteers.
The conference will take place at the District Extension Urban Solutions Center, 17360 Coit Road, in Dallas. Pre-registration is due the week of June 1.
