Dr. Cheryl Lawson and her staff at the Sulphur Springs Public Library were hosts to the parents of students in the Head Start Program at ECLC, in Sulphur Springs, on Thursday morning. The field trip for the parents was to introduce them to the many services offered by the Sulphur Springs Public Library. "It's amazing the educational services that are available," expressed one parent, who attended the tour. "I didn't know about some of the opportunities that are offered and plan to enroll my children in some of them, as I know it will encourage them to read more!"

"Reading is the key to life!" explained Lawson, as she spoke to the parents, on Thursday. "Starting early and teaching your child to enjoy reading, opens doors throughout their life and makes the learning curve so much easier!"

Dr. Cheryl Lawson points to a number of books that are designed for beginners at the
Sulphur Springs Public Library, as she presents a tour for parents of Head Start children.

Lawson introduced "Story Time" that is provided by the library, where outreach members of the community come to the library and share some of their favorite books and offer enlightening information about the particular subjects, that children will be interested in. She also "plugged" the Summer Reading Program and various other programs that the library offers.

"We're always looking for ways to include the community in learning and to offer ideas that will appeal to young readers," continued Lawson. "We bring a number of local and regional authors to the library, so that the youth and adults can have the opportunity to meet them and gain inspiration from them!"
