Hosts Christmas Party, Thursday Night

It was a night of good food and good fellowship at the Hopkins County Genealogical Society meeting on Thursday night, in the Main Street Library, as the organization hosted their annual Christmas Party. Members brought food for the meal and shared a dinner, as well as fun games, and "bidding" on gift baskets that had been prepared by members of the board.

"We don't have a program and just enjoy getting together and visiting for the December meeting, each year," allowed Ronny Glossup, President of the Genealogical Society. "It's a time to relax and actually sit down and visit with one another."

The new slate of officers for the organization was installed for the comming year. They include:

The Hopkins County Genealogical Society meets on the third Thursday of each month, with an informative program about researching your family history, noteable Hopkins County people, or local authors who present an overview of their work. If you are interested in your family history, Hopkins County history, or even Texas history, you should consider being a part of this group, that maintains one of the best libraries in Northeast Texas for family research. The library is located at 201 Main Street in Sulphur Springs.
