"Lucky Birds" For The Cure
At Guaranty Bond Bank

by: Bobby McDonald

If you've driven down Gilmer Street, today, you couldn't help but notice that Guaranty Bond Bank has accumulated some new "friends" in their yard. The place is covered in pink flamingos!

Well, the "birds" are part of a program to raise money for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day For The Cure Walk, that will be held in Dallas, on November 6-8th, 2009. Two local ladies, Melanie Helm and Carrie Crowson, are attempting to raise $4600.00 for the breast cancer organization and "planted" the flamingos in the front yard of Guaranty Bond Bank. To get the flamingos removed from your property, one must "pay a fine" or donate to the cause. $150.00 removes the birds immediately, while a $100.00 donation gets them removed within 6 hours. A $50.00 donation promises them removed by noon the next day! All donations are given to the Breast Cancer 3-Day fundraiser.

Guranty Bond Bank was making a donation, so the flamingos could "roost" somewhere else, and expected them to "take flight" sometime this afternoon. Meanwhile if anyone would like to donate to Melanie and Carrie's walk in the organization, they can contact them at either, (903)243-2507 or (903)438-6816!

Help these two ladies out, as they attempt to make a difference in a disease that tragically is all too common in Hopkins County!!!
