

Forage Field Day to Focus
on Over-Seeding Small Grains

Local cattlemen and forage producers will be interested in a Multi-County Extension Service Field Day, set for July 22nd, in Stephenville, that will focus on seeding clovers and legumes in coastal bermudagrass pastures and hay meadows. The field day is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., and will be held at the Texas AgriLife Extension Center, located at 1229 N. U.S. Highway 281, in Stephenville. The event will be free and open to the public, with a catered lunch, so registration is needed to make certain that they know how many to plan for.

You may register by calling one of the county extension offices who are sponsoring the program for Erath, Comanche, Hamilton, Hood, and Somervell Counties. The number for the Erath County AgriLife Extension Office is (254)965-1460.
Organizers of the field day state that they have a number of calls each year about the seeding rates and types of clovers and legumes to over-seed in bermudagrass. This field day will include tests results for over-seeing different varieties in pastures and those varieties that have performed the best, under Texas weather conditions.
