First Hopkins County Baby of 2010 Arrives

Hopkins County Memorial Hosptial announces the first baby for the year 2010, as she arrived at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, January 1, 2010. Little Harmani Leann Brown, weighed   7 1/2 pounds and was 19 inches long. Proud parents are Jarrel Brown and Raven Hearn of Cooper, Texas.

Harmani is the 10,084th baby delivered by local doctor, Dr. Somjai Tris, and he was available for pictures. "You get to feeling like the world's oldest grandpa!" quipped Tris. "And, I think I'm going to retire once I deliver that 20,000th baby!"

Grandparents of Harmani include:Vivian and O.G. Brewer of Cooper and Tommie and Jesse Hearn, also of Cooper.

 

 

Both Raven and Harmani are doing great and expected to be released to go home on Saturday.

"We had no idea that we would be the first birth in 2010, and we're just thankful that she's here and everything is o.k.," allowed Jarrel and Raven. "We're looking forward to going home!"
