Students and parents served homemade ice cream to the community, prior to Saturday night's
auction.

It was delicious homemade ice cream and plenty of both shop made and donated items up for auction, on Saturday night, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, as the 37th annual Sulphur Springs FFA Auction got underway. All the homemade ice cream you could eat was available at 5:00 p.m., and there were many lined-up to get a taste, and then the auction began at 6:00. Local auctioneers Wade Bartley and Jeff Massey donated their time to conduct the auction.

From Christmas ornaments, to BBQ grills, feed troughs, and picnic tables, all of the students in the ag mechanics classes had made items for the auction. And, many of the items had been exhibited at San Antonio and Houston Livestock Shows, Ag Mechanics Divisions, earning top prizes.

Morgan Lampp, one of the local FFA chapter officers, displays a Christmas ornament she constructed
from horseshoes, for Saturday night's auction.

"The auction is an opportunity for our students to show the community, just what we do in class all year," expressed Dannie Johnson, one of the SS FFA Vocational Agriculture instructors. "The students work on projects all year and then offer them for sale at the auction.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, a project show was conducted, where students competed against each other for prizes in the shop division, as well as with their livestock and equine projects.

A number of items donated by local businesses were auctioned, on Saturday night. Here a savings
bond from Alliance Bank is auctioned.

Another facet of the day was the exhibition and sale of a number of horticultural projects, that the students had grown in the chapter greenhouse.

"It's just a family tradition," remarked one local family. "Our children have been reared as members of the chapter and we continue to come and support them every year, and now we have grandchildren about ready to become members! The Sulphur Springs FFA has been a vital part of this community for generations, providing leadership and direction for the youth of Hopkins County."

Exact figures on the amount of money raised in Saturday night's auction were not available, as total were still being added and billing was not complete.

County for your support!!!"
