Fall Festival Cookbook
Goes On Sale
by: Bobby McDonald

"It has about everything you can imagine, included in the list of recipes," advised Fall Festival Board Chairman, Ina Gore. "There are 'mouth-watering' desserts, 'taste-tempting' main dishes, and appetizers that just make you want to go to the kitchen!"
Gore is talking about "40 Years of Flavor," the recently published Hopkins County Fall Festival 40th Anniversary Cookbook, that has just gone on sale. The book can be purchased at a number of locations throughout Hopkins County (we have them available at the office) and they will be on sale, throughout the many activities planned for this year's historic anniversary Fall Festival.
"We sent out a message to former board members, current board members, and just let it be known that we wanted some of the favorite recipes from Hopkins County," explained Cookbook Chairperson, Cindy Smithers. "And, suddenly we had all of these wonderful recipes coming in, that celebrate the kind of food we enjoy here in Hopkins County. There's "Cheesy Bread," "Peanut Butter Pie," "Death By Chocolate," and "Gingerbread Sweet Potatoes," just to name a few, of the recipes that are included!"

Cover Girl Coordinator for the Hopkins County Fall Festival, Tracy Dennis, contacted the former Cover Girls and soon found a variety of recipes coming to her, that exemplified "taste-tempting" versions of Hopkins County's favorites. "We had a wonderful response from the former Fall Festival Cover Girls, as they are now cooking for their families and treasuring recipes that have been handed down for generations in their families," expressed Dennis. "I just wish I had time to go to the kitchen and make them all. They are wonderful recipes!"
The book also features a number of historic pictures, that will remind you of some of the history of the Hopkins County Fall Festival, that began back in 1969. The stew contest was added in 1970, and yes, it has grown considerably with each new year, to become the week-long celebration that we now enjoy.
Cookbooks are a modest $15.00 each and you'll be certain to want your own copy, to celebrate the many facets of food we enjoy here in Hopkins County!
