If you were one of the few people that had time to "run" to the Duck Race, following the naming of the Hopkins County Stew winners, you saw the excitement of the yellow ducks floating down the creek through the Civic Center Park. Excitement built as the mass of yellow ducks made their way along the creek and toward the finish line.

And, of course, the most excited folks were those who were named the winners. Winning numbers called were #328, #102, and #38.

When organizers of the Duck Race checked their list, it revealed the following matching ticket holders:

1st Place and Grand Prize of $500.00 was Zachary Clark.

2nd Place and Winner of $200.00 was Hunter Salverino.

3rd Place and Winner of $100.00 was Bennie Bolton.

"Can I make a suggestion?" urged one of those who wished to make it to the Duck Race, but had waited for the awards ceremony of the stew contest. "Is there any way to move the Duck Race to say 3:00 p.m.? I think more tickets could be sold and more people would attend the event. Now that the stew contest has been moved to Buford Park, it doesn't work to start the Duck Race that quickly after it. People don't have enough time to make it to the Civic Center, following the announcement of the stew winners!"

Like with anything else, maybe some planning needs to be done before next year's Fall Festival to better coordinate the events, to make them more "patron friendly."

But, you can't convince the three winners that everything wasn't "just right!"
