Hopkins County Memorial Mammography
Goes Digital

It was an important day in the lives of women in the greater Hopkins County area, on Monday, as a new digital mammography machine was installed in the radiology department at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. The machine was partially funded by the local Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Foundation, with funds raised from Lights of Life and donations from GSC Enterprises and the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Volunteer Auxillary. "We just can't say thank you enough for the generous donations that made this possible," exclaimed Jackie Thornton, Director of the Hospital Foundation. "It was a our 2010 goal to donate money for this machine to offer better exams for women and all of the hard work has finally brought the machine to be used by the women of the area!"

"Faster response time and more detailed readings for mammography exams, are just two of the benefits of the machine," allowed Mammography Technician, Lauren Stracener and Radiology Department Director, Adam Larson, as they demonstrated the new machine. "This is a 'top of the line' machine that uses the latest technology in mammography exams, giving the patient detection and the benefits of early diagnosis!"

"We're just so excited to be able to bring this technology to Hopkins County and protect the women of the area, with its many benefits," expressed Craig Roberts, Co-Chair of the 2010 Lights of Life Gala. "We felt it was a great need in the area and are pleased that through generous support and donations that we can offer a life saving investment to Hopkins County!"

The machine is already installed and ready to use a Hopkins County Memorial and will immediately be offering its many benefits in the mammography exams.

Little McKenzie Phiffer, granddaughter of Mickie and Barbara McKenzie, is shown the new machine,
by Barbara McKenzie, Jackie Thornton, and Jennifer Roberts, as they explain the benefits of the
new technology that will likely advance early detection and life saving exams to Hopkins County area women.
