Saturday night's nameing of the queen and her court.
It was a "packed" crowd in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, on Saturday night, to witness the culmination of a week's worth of activities, celebrating the 51st Annual Hopkins County Dairy Festival. Saturday night's Talent and Beauty Pageant was the final event and featured the naming of the young lady that will represent Hopkins County as the official ambassador for the next year. When the votes were finally tallied, following a number of songs by vocalist, Mike Dodd, it was seventeen year old Bailee Petty, daughter of Mike and Kara Petty, that was named the new queen. Petty will be a senior at Sulphur Springs High School in the fall and had presented a tap dance and vocal number to the 1930's classic, "Puttin' On The Ritz," earlier in the talent segment of the program.
The "blue-eyed, brunette," has been selected by her classmates to serve as the Senior Class President at SSHS for 2010-11 and is a member of the HKK, National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, and the Drama and Theater Department. She lists among her future plans law school and politics. However, she "wowed" the audience during her evening gown presentation with an introduction that stated "no matter how far her endeavors took her, Hopkins County would always be home!"
