Daniel Phillip Lawrence, a 2001 Como-Pickton High School graduate, received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Texas Houston Dental Branch on Friday May 22nd, in ceremonies at the Cullen Performance Hall, on the campus of the University of Houston. Lawrence, the son of David and Jan Lawrence of Muleshoe, and the grandson of Paul and Jann Lawrence of Como, and Joyce McDonald and the late Pete McDonald of Yantis, is a 2005 graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He entered Dental School at the University of Texas, in Houston, in the fall of 2005. He is also the great-grandson of Mrs. Elma Crouch of Sulphur Springs.
"I've survived 'Katrina,' 'Rita,' and 'Ike' while I've been in Houston," quipped Lawrence, following receiving his diploma. "I'm about ready to put Houston in my rear-view mirror!"


Lawrence is married to the former Shannon Sartin, daughter of Billy and Lana Sartin, of Sulphur Springs. Shannon graduated from Lamar University on May 16th with a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, and did her undergraduate work at Texas Tech, also.
Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence will make their home in Sulphur Springs where Danny will practice Dentistry with Dr. Sandy Vaculik, and Shannon has accepted a job with Hunt Regional Medial Center, in Greenville.
