51st Annual Dairy Festival Parade
Captures "The Essence" of Hopkins County

by: Bobby McDonald

Saturday morning's 51st Annual Hopkins County Dairy Festival Parade wound its way through the streets of Hopkins, as participants waved at the hundreds of spectators lined-up along the streets of Sulphur Springs. From the Parade Marshal, Raymond Haygood, who has devoted a lifetime to the Hopkins County Dairy Festival, to our current Queen, Katelyn Cody, who represented the present, to a throng of future queens, that represent the bright future of the area, the parade served as a reflection of the essence of life in Hopkins County....a historic past, a wonderful present, and a bright future!

Saturday's parade was led by current queen, Katelyn, and featured each of this year's Dairy Festival Candidates on a mini-float, and the "little kids" riding in decorated golf carts, for an exciting and colorful display of milk and dairy products. Commercial floats, dignitaries, antique cars, tractors, and feed and milk trucks completed the display of Hopkins County life, as it moved down the streets of Sulphur Springs.
