The first in a series of "long, long nights" at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, began on Monday night, for Dairy Festival Candidates, their parents and members of the Hopkins County Dairy Festival Board, as rehearsals began for the talent competition. "We want you all to be comfortable with our stage crew, your props, and coordinated with the sound and lighting, long before Saturday night's competition begins," expressed longtime Pageant Coordinator, Lynda Hager. "We're here to help you and for you to complete your routines, until you are comfortable!"

Monday night's rehearsals were for candidates #1 through #6 and for Queen Katelyn Cody, who all worked on their presentations and brought their props to be marked on the stage. Tuesday night, candidates #7 through #13 will rehearse.

"We have a large number of candidates this year, which is a good thing," denoted Hager. "But, it also means that we have to have everything ready for Saturday night's Talent and Beauty portion of the contest, so that the show will run smoothly and quickly. The judges and the stage crew will be extremely busy during the show, with this many candidates!"

"You really, really see the dedication of the Dairy Festival Board members, when you attend these practices," denoted Queen Katelyn Cody's parents, Stacy and Kelly Cody. "They spend hours up here every night, making certain that everything goes perfect and that each candidate has an opportunity to showcase their talent, before the judges. They are certainly a dedicated group of volunteers, many times working behind the scenes, that no one knows about!"

Dairy Festival Board members were busy, following Monday night's rehearsals, as they worked on stage props and creating the scenes for the opening of Saturday night's performance. They will rehearse again on Tuesday night, spend Wednesday night creating the remainder of the staging, and then have another night of rehearsals on Thursday night, with Dress-Rehearsal scheduled for Friday night, with a complete "run-thru" of the Saturday night event!

"We just know to 'block-off' this week and that we're going to spend it helping these girls," expressed Patricia Chase. "It's all about spotlighting these young ladies, for Saturday night's performance and the naming of the new Dairy Festival Queen!"

Tickets for Saturday night's Talent and Beauty Pageant and Queen Coronation can still be purchased from your favorite Dairy Festival Candidate, for $7.00, through Thursday, or can be purchased at-the-door, on Saturday night for $10.00 each.

Certainly no stranger to the stage, Dairy Festival Queen, Katelyn Cody,
rehearses with her props, on Monday night, to get things right for her
segment of Saturday night's program, as the reigning royalty.
