Cumby Trojans Make Alumni Proud
With 49-20 Win Over Union Hill, Saturday
by: Bobby McDonald
It was hot on Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., when the Cumby Trojans went to the newly named "Frazier-Lawrence Field" and met the Union Hill Bulldogs. However, despite the heat and with the stands full of Cumby Alumni from 1976-1980, the Trojans persevered and beat Union Hill with an impressive 49-20 showing.
"We knew that there were people watching us, that knew when the football program was started back in the 1970's and we wanted a win bad," expressed one of the Cumby Trojan players, from the sidelines. "We worked together as a team and got the mission accomplished!"
"It was great to see the Trojans win, after a day of memories and remembrances from the days when the Trojans had begun to rebuild their football program back in the 1970's," related former Cumby Trojan Coach Chuck Lawrence, who was in the audience with his family. "It was just icing on the cake, after a day of memories!"
