Cumby students, parents, teachers, and administrators met at Cumby High School for a night of meeting and greeting and then assembled at Trojan Field for a scrimmage game with Era, on Thursday night. "It was a great night in Cumby, Thursday night," allowed Cumby ISD teacher, David Stribling, Jr. "The teachers got to meet all of their students and explain some of the things that will be happening during the next few weeks, as school begins and the routine of a new year gets underway!"

Junior high and high school students received their schedules and had the opportunity to meet with some of their teachers and begin the process of anticipating their day at school. Meanwhile, the elementary teachers were there to greet student in their rooms and help them to become acquainted with where they will be on Monday.

Then, it was a "mass exodus" as everyone stepped outside to the football field and watched the Cumby Trojans as they met Era, in their second scrimmage of the season. The Cumby Trojans will meet the Como-Pickton Eagles in their first game, in the annual "Hopkins County Shoot-Out," on Friday night, August 28th.

The Cumby Trojans managed to score four touchdowns during the "half-game" that was played and outscored their opponents, so everyone was in a jovial mood as they left the field and look forward to beginning the school year early Monday morning! Of course, there were a few still "moaning" in the backfield, about the end of the summer season and having to "hit the books!"
