Class of 2011 at Cumby High School has the honor of lighting the Homecoming Bonfire, Wednesday night.
"The Spirit Burns Bright in Cumby"
Wednesday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
Almost the entire population of Cumby lined the streets down town, on Wednesday night for the annual Homecoming Parade and followed it to the scene of this year's Homecoming Bonfire. "It's a great, great way to build spirit in our community," allowed Cumby residents. "And, to get ready for the Homecoming Game against Union Hill, on Friday night!"
Clubs and student organizations decorated floats and Homecoming nominees rode in the parade and waved to the crowd, as the parade route took participants through the streets of Cumby, ending at the open field adjacent to Frazier-Lawrence Field, where the bonfire awaited.

Members of the Senior 2011 Class were first called to the stage and given torches, that they would use to light the bonfire. Then, members of the coaching staff, individual members of the Trojan Football Team and Lady Trojan Volleyball Team, and school administrators spoke to the large crowd gathered for the evening. Cheers erupted from the crowd, when Coach Shelley Jones announced that the Lady Trojan Volleyball Team was ranked #3 in the State and had a 3-0 district record! Then, more cheers were sounded when Coach Johnson predicted a win on the Football Field, Friday night, for a homecoming victory!

Wednesday was "hat day" at school, with Thursday predicted to be an even "funnier" day, when girls will come to school dressed like guys, and guys will be "putting on the heels" to appear as girls. "I can't wait to see some of these 'hairy-legged' boys in a dress or shorts!" declared one teacher, who asked to be anonymous. "It will certainly be a hoot!"
Then, on Friday, it will be "Maroon Out! Day" at Cumby High School, when everyone will be wearing maroon and white, the schools colors.
The new Homecoming Royalty will be introduced in pre-game activities, at 6:45 p.m., on Friday night, and then the Cumby Trojan vs Union Hill Bulldog Game will unfold beginning at 7:30 p.m. The annual Homecoming Dance will follow the game, on Friday night!

Everyone from Cumby invites the public out to help them celebrate Homecoming Week.
The Cumby FFA Booster Club served BBQ on Wednesday night, to the large crowd, as a fundraising project for their organization!
"Go Trojans!!!"
