Rivercrest Delivers "Homecoming Blow"
To Como-Pickton Eagles
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a disappointing night for the Como-Pickton Eagles and their fans, as the Rivercrest Rebels came to town and delivered a "homecoming spoiler" to festivities. The Rebels went home with a 30 to 19 win, and left Como-Pickton with a new Homecoming Queen and a dance that was anything but a celebration, after the frustrating loss.
The Eagles were behind, "but within striking distance," at the halftime intermission, as they trailed the Rebels 17-7.

However, the Rebels came back quickly in the third quarter and added seven more points to the board, and basically "sealed" the victory, with a 24-7 lead.
But, the Eagles never gave up and added twelve more points to their total, but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit.
The final score was a disappointing 30-19 loss for Homecoming night at Ron Heflin Field.
The Eagles will travel north to Cooper, next Friday night, as they progress in the season, looking for a district win.
