Como-Pickton Eagles First District Game
Ends In A Loss
By: Luis Rasgado
The Como-Pickton Eagles started their 2010 football season with a 18 - 0 loss against the Quitman Bulldogs.

During the pre-season games the Eagles had great confidence of their offensive and defensive formations that they predicted to have a breathtaking first district game against the Quitman Bulldogs.

From the opening kick-off, the Eagles were forcefully held back as the bulldogs offense and defense marked their territory yard by yard. The Eagles were no match for the raging Quitman Bulldogs.

As the game was on its way, the Eagles ended the first quarter with a Quitman 6 - 0 lead. On the second quarter, Como-Pickton had a couple of opportunities to score, but Quitman's defensive line held tight and stopped the Eagles offensive play forcing them to punt the ball giving the Bulldogs to have an opportunity at scoring. Quitman didn't lose time and scored 8 minutes before half time giving them a 12 - 0 lead.

After a halftime pep-talk in the locker room, Como-Pickton seemed motivated to fight back. Completed passes to Brodie Ogle and Trevor Cagle and carries by Bryce Steele and Mathew Sharp gained enough yards to get first downs, which motivated their teammates and the fans, but that was not enough. The Bulldogs forced the Eagles to make a couple more turnovers.
6 minutes before the fourth quarter, Quitman ran a 54 yard touch down, making the score 18 - 0.

By the end of the fourth quarter Como-Pickton gave heart and soul on the field, but it was too late, and suffered their first 2010 district defeat, 18-0 to the Quitman Bulldogs.
