These Como-Pickton students seem excited about the upcoming school year.

Students, parents, and community residents were invited to Como-Pickton CISD, on Wednesday afternoon for a time that students could "pick-up" their schedules, receive their yearbooks from last year, and meet all the new teachers for the upcoming year. "It's just a great way to 'kick-off' the new school year and get everyone ready for next Monday morning," advised Asst. Superintendent, Lydia Walden. "It gives everyone an opportunity to get acquainted before classes actually begin!"

Parents had the opportunity to meet the teachers and learn a little about classroom expectations.

Many of the students were busy signing yearbooks from last year, as they traveled from group to group, while others were discussing the various classes they had been assigned. Meanwhile, many of the parents were observed visiting with teachers and coaches that will be instructing their students for the next school term.

Schedules and yearbooks were popular items for students to receive at Wednesday's event.

"We always enjoy coming to the event as a family and getting to know those teachers that our children will be having," expressed one parent. "It allows you the opportunity to put a face with a name and know who your child is talking about, especially  if they have someone new to the system."

"And, we want the teachers to know that we are interested in their progress and support them at home," continued the parent. "It's good to talk to them and let them know that, right from the start of the year!"

These students received their 2009 yearbooks and visited with one of their teachers for the upcoming term.

Several of the 2009 Class at Como-Pickton were seen as they secured their yearbooks and were "packing up" for moving to college, over the weekend, as some of their classes begin as early as next week. "It's great to see everyone before I leave," expressed one college bound student. "I'm moving next week and classes begin on August 27th!"

Meet the Teacher night at Como-Pickton, was certainly a popular event and brought a large number of students, teachers, and parents together, for a successful upcoming year!

And, the cheerleaders at Como-Pickton were already promoting school spirit for the upcoming
