Cooper U.P.R.A. Rodeo Gets Underway
For First Performance, Friday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
With the National Day of the American Cowboy being celebrated on Saturday, in Hopkins County, what better way could you mark the occasion than attending a rodeo? Well, drive just 20 miles north to Cooper, and you'll be treated to their annual U.P.R.A. Rodeo, with loads of action. The first performance was Friday night at 8:00 p.m., and the final performance will be Saturday night, at 8:00. A rodeo parade will be featured in downtown Cooper, on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. The action was "rough" on Friday night and the Saturday night performance promises to be equally exciting!
Enjoy a weekend of Western activity with the Cowboy Breakfast and other National Day of the Cowboy events at the Civic Center, on Saturday morning, with music, entertainment, and good ol' cowboy cooking.
Then, make your way to the Civic Center Arena for some horsemanship action, where the Stock Horse of Texas (SHOT) group will be conducting horsemanship clinics, competitions, and a variety of horsemanship activities.
Then, if you're in the mood for some Country and Western music, the Reilly Springs Jamboree will be featured on Saturday night, in the Reilly Springs Schoolhouse.
Get Western and enjoy the weekend!
