Como-Pickton School "Lights Up"
Thursday Night, in 2nd Annual Lighting Display
by: Bobby McDonald
What started last year on a "last minute whim" has skyrocketed into a major event for the Como and Pickton Communities and developed into a "must see" event for everyone in Hopkins County. It's the Lighting Display that is prepared around the school by classes, in competition with each other, for prizes, but more importantly "bragging rights" by the students, teachers and parents of the individual grades.
Workers had prepared outstanding displays in sections around the school and those attending could simply drive-thru the school grounds and admire the outstanding displays, on Thursday night.
Then, they could park and attend the Choral Society and Band Concert, sip hot chocolate, and get their photo made with Santa Claus.
"It's a great night of fun for everyone in the entire community," allowed High School Principal, Penny Armstrong, as she described the event. "It gets everyone involved in the Christmas spirit and brings the communities together for a great Christmas event!"

Enjoy the following photos from Thursday night's outstanding display:

The second grade class took an honorable mention for their "Gingerbread House" display.
"Looking Through the Window" the theme for the Kindergarten class also took and honorable mention.

And the Grand Winner was the "Manger Scene" done by the Junior High class.
Congratulations to all the classes for a job very well done!!! Can't wait to see what they come up with next year.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,
From Como-Pickton!!!!
