The press and friends of the Northeast Texas Choral Society were treated on Monday night to a dress rehearsal performance of this spring's concert, aptly titled "Walk By Faith." The show features outstanding performances by the group, that we've all come to expect as tradition and showcases our spiritual walk in life. Songs include those traditional favorites like "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord," while ringing out some newer songs like "There Is A Balm in Gilead" and "What Grace Is Mine."

The beautiful sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, anchored by the beautiful stained-glass windows, only accentuates the ambiance of the performance, as well as lending acoustic genius to the performance. "We felt hosting this concert in the church would only add to the message we wanted to send to the community," expressed Carol Allen, Choir Director. "The beauty and sound advantages only enhance the music!"

The choir enters the sanctuary to "We Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder" and quickly moves into "Keep Your Lamps Burning."

Caleb Frazier is featured in a number of selections on the drums and vocalists from the choir are featured on most of the selections. Other accompanists include Denise Stuart and Ken Hanushek, piano; Deanna Spraggins, organ and keyboard; Joe Clark, percussion; and Aubrey Coleman, trumpet. Featured vocalists include: Robin Boshears, Lepha Luttral, Marlon Chisom, Inita Palumbo,  Nancy Harris, Amy Barrows, and Tim Marks.

One of my favorite selections was the folk rhythm of "Shut De Do," that showcases a distinct beat and lends a cadence to the performance.

With additional selections, including "My God Is A Rock," "The Welcome Table," and "I Must Tell Jesus," this season's performance is truly a spiritual feast and a "must see" performance.
