Cattlemen's Field Day Slated for
June 21st

Local ranchers and cattlemen need to mark their calendars for Monday, June 21, 2010, when Hopkins County will host a Cattlemen's Field Day, at the Professional Ag Worker's Building in Buford Park. The day begins with a lunch sponsored by IDEXX, Purina, Dow and Behringer Ingelheim. And, participants in the seminar need to register with the Hopkins County Extension Agent's Office at (903)885-3443, so plans can be made for lunch.

The afternoon will include speakers on various topics of interest to local cattlemen. The seminar should be completed by 5:00 p.m.

 

 

 

Speakers and subjects of their presentations include:

                       Neal Odom - IDEXX - "BVDV-PI What it is and how so few can affect so many."

                       Chris McClure - Gold Standard Labs - "BVDV-PI Testing Technologies."

                       Doug Hawkins - Purina - "Fetal Programming and Sustained Nutrition."

                       Brant Mettler - Dow - "Wee and Brush Products Update."

                       Stacy Fox - TSCRA - "Current Industry Issues."

                       Flavio Ribeiro - TAMU-Commerce - "Reproductive Diseases and Carcass Quality."

                       "Current and Emerging Added Value Opportunities."

                       Dr. Devin - Boehringer - "Importance of Injection Sites."

The "Mettler" presentation will qualify for 1 Pesticide Private Applicator CEU.

Call the Hopkins County Extension Service to register for the free seminar and make plans to enjoy a day of learning about the current beef cattle industry.
