"The Way Things Use to Be"......

5th Annual Car Show
"Biggest One Yet!"

by: Bobby McDonald

Steve Melton, right, won Best of Show and Mayor's Pick with his
1965 Pontiac from Emory, Texas.

If you didn't make your way down to the Downtown Square on Saturday morning, you missed a real treat! The entire downtown area was filled with classic cars of every make and model. And, Oh, if they could only talk, they'd have told stories of bygone days.....thrills and chills....and memories galore (probably some of them that we'd like to forget, but nonetheless special memories of our past).

"Elvis and those classic cars...."

"It was a great, great day!" exclaimed Rita Edwards with the Downtown Business Alliance and one of the event organizers. "The weather was wonderful and it was a very, very nice day in the downtown area."

Besides the Square area, Main Street was filled with classic Corvettes, where their own show was conducted, as well.

"We had some beautiful automobiles and loads of visitors to Sulphur Springs," advised Downtown Business Alliance President, Perry Altenbaumer. "It was a great day of fun and should have been a great day for business in downtown Sulphur Springs."

Talley Bell, Sulphur Springs, won Best Foreign Car.

Mickey Eddins, Sulphur Springs, won Best Tri-5, with his 1957 Chevy.
