Annual Farm Bureau Sponsored
NETLA Buyer's Luncheon
Says "Big Thank You!!!"

Ashley Sells, Dannielle Johnson, and Morgan Lampp, were three of the participants in the NETLA Market Show, for the past 10 years, and
they traced their involvement and the lessons they have learned while working with local livestock projects.
"We're all about supporting the youth of Hopkins County, to make certain that they can go on to college and grow!" advised Frank Long, NETLA Organization member. "And, I know I'm 'singing to the choir' here today!"
Long and Hopkins-Rains County Farm Bureau President, Mark Sustaire, welcomed last year's buyers at the NETLA Sale of Champions to an appreciation luncheon, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, on Wednesday at noon. Guests were served prime rib and pork loin, with all the trimmings, as a token of their participation in developing the youth of Hopkins County.

Long then introduced Julie Hutchins and Dannie Johnson, who in turn introduced three of their students, who served to tell the audience the many advantages that they had gained through many years of participation in the NETLA Market Show and Sale. Sulphur Springs High School seniors, Ashley Sells, Dannielle Johnson, and Morgan Lampp, spoke of the dedication, perseverance, money management, and work ethics that they had gained through participation in showing livestock in the local show. They spoke of the heartaches and joys they had experienced since beginning with their show careers back as early as nine years old. Now, ready for college, they have sold livestock and built college funds that will allow them to continue their educations.
Jace Orren, a member of the Sulphur Springs FFA, was one of those NETLA participants
who served the buyers at Wednesday's luncheon.
Following their presentations, Wednesday, Long commented, "I could stand here and tell you about the NETLA Organization's lofty goals and principles, but all you have to do is take note of these three young ladies and the group of others that have been your servers today, and you easily see what our purposes are made of. They're living examples of this organization working in our community!"
These Miller Grove FFA members, who are participating in this year's
NETLA Show and Sale were part of the wait staff at the noon luncheon.
The buyers in the room had contributed over $250,000.00 at last year's sale, compared to the rather humble beginnings of the 1982 sale that featured only $28,000.00 for youth's projects.
The 2010 show begins at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, with the lamb and goat show, followed on Friday night, at 6:00 p.m., with the market swine show. On Saturday morning, the poultry show will begin at 7:30 a.m. and be followed by the market steer show, and the beef heifer show. This year's Sale of Champions will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., on Saturday night, February 27th!
And, other youth from Como-Pickton FFA, Hopkins Co. 4-H, Sulphur Bluff FFA, and North Hopkins
and Cumby FFAs were there to make certain that everyone was served the great meal!
Come Out and Support
the Youth of Hopkins County!!!
