"Aunt Bee's Buttermilk Pound Cake"

 

How many of you grew-up watching The Andy Griffith Show? Do you remember those delightful desserts that Aunt Bee brought out of her famous oven? Well, you're in luck! Ken Beck and Jim Clark have joined forces to bring you a cookbook of those famous recipes, entitled "Aunt Bee's Delightful Desserts."

One of my favorite recipes in the book is "Aunt Bee's Buttermilk Pound Cake." Try this recipe to put your sweetheart at the "top of the heap!"

 

 

Buttermilk Pound Cake

3 cups sugar

2 sticks butter

1/2 cup Crisco

6 eggs

3 cups plain flour, sifted 3 times

1 cup buttermilk

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

1/2 teaspoon rum flavoring

1/4 teaspoon coconut flavoring

1/4 teaspoon mace

Cream sugar, butter, and Crisco. Add eggs, one at the time, blending
after each addition. Alternately add, flour and buttermilk mixed with baking soda, to
the mixture. Add flavorings, mixing well. Pour into a greased Bundt or tube pan.
Bake for 90 minutes at 325 degrees.

Serves 10 -12

Great served with your favorite fruit combinations or
spread with fruit preserves.
