Fall Festival Board Hosts
Business After Hours, Thursday
by: Bobby McDonald
Cover Girl Ashley Wilburn drew for a number of door prizes that were given
away at Thursday afternoon's gathering.
It was a gala affair that got everyone anticipating the 41st Annual Hopkins County Fall Festival and Stew Contest, on Thursday afternoon, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, as the Fall Festival Board hosted this month's Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. A large gathering of local businessmen and women gathered to learn about the latest events planned for this year's celebration and to network with others in the community.
Susan Neal, President of the Fall Festival Board, introduced her board and
had them to tell about the many events planned for this year's Fall Festival.

Meredith Caddell, Chamber of Commerce CEO, introduced Susan Neal, President of the Hopkins County Fall Festival, who in turn introduced members of her board and asked them to share the new events planned for this year's 41st Annual Fall Festival. Among the new events announced was the Country Catfish and Concert, planned for the final night of the Fall Festival, where local catfish cookers will be in a competition and provide some of the best catfish in the country, for everyone to enjoy before the concert. Patrons are asked to bring their lawn chairs, purchase an arm band for both events, and celebrate the climax of a great week of activities.
Denise Null also gave a roll call of this year's Fall Festival Sponsors, denoting that the Hopkins County Fall Festival is one of the very few county fairs in the region that does not charge an admission fee to the grounds or for parking. "We depend solely on what our sponsors provide and what each event raises, to finance the entire celebration," denoted Null. "Thus, we are eternally grateful for our wonderful sponsors who year after year provide the financial support to make this celebration happen for everyone!"

Tracy Dennis introduced Cover Girl Ashley Wilburn and the young ladies that will be competing in this year's
Cover Girl Contest.
Tracy Dennis, Cover Girl Sponsor, introduced reigning Cover Girl, Ashley Wilburn, and then introduced those of the eight 2010 Cover Girl contestants that were present at the Business After Hours event. "We're looking forward to a great year with loads of enthusiasm," expressed Dennis. "We had a young lady 'run-over' by a calf last year, and hopefully we won't repeat that again, but it just shows the spirit of competition and effort that these young ladies give to the contest!"

Meanwhile, the Fall Festival Board provided refreshments and among those refreshments was "Karen's Chocolate Mocha Punch," that had everyone going back for seconds and thirds! Karon was so kind as to provide us with the recipe so that you can enjoy this refreshing punch at home or your next gathering. It's a great way to "beat the summer heat" and provide a delicious refreshment.
