Bank Clearing House Joins Forces to Furnish
Burgers For United Way Campaign, Friday
by: Bobby McDonald
It was the three banks that are members of the local Bank Clearinghouse Organization, City National Bank, Alliance Bank, and Guaranty Bond Bank, that joined forces on Friday and cooked hamburgers and all the trimmings, to sell lunch in downtown Sulphur Springs, to benefit United Way. "It's a great way to have fun and to get together for a worthy cause," expressed Lynda Hager, of Guaranty Bond Bank. "The guys enjoy getting out of the bank and cooking burgers on the grill and the ladies do the serving as you build you own burger!"

Friday's lunch also featured a number of businesses across town "calling in" orders to be delivered. We delivered a number of burgers to people who didn't have time to make the trip downtown.
The effort served 410 hamburgers and 175 hot dogs to provide a productive effort for this year's United Way Campaign.
"It was great!" allowed Ruth Ann Crowson, United Way Campaign Chairman. "We had lots of support from the three banks and loads of people came out and ordered lunch!"
"And, it didn't rain, this year!" advised Hager. "It has rained the last two years on the day we had our cookout, and we didn't have as successful of an event. But, this year it was nice autumn weather and everyone had a great time!
