"Toe-Tappin' Time" At
Historical Museum's
Bluegrass In The Park

by: Bobby McDonald

"Hard 2 Git" of Paris, Texas, was the first group to perform at Bluegrass in the Park, Friday night.

The crowd began to gather at 5:00, as the 2009 version of Bluegrass In The Park, annually sponsored by the Hopkins County Historical Society, began to unfold, on Friday afternoon. "It's good, old-fashioned, Bluegrass music!" exclaimed Lucy McCorkle, as she describe the show to patrons that lined up for tickets. "It will be featured tonight and tomorrow night and you can purchase a ticket for one or both nights!"

Four Bluegrass groups performed on Friday night and another four will be featured at Saturday night's show, that begins at 5:30 p.m.

"High Strung," of Paris, Texas, performed on Friday night's show and will be featured again in
the Saturday night show.

Groups performing on stage for Friday night included: "Hard 2 Git" from Paris, Texas; "High Strung" from Paris; "Lonesome Prairie" from the Ft. Worth area; and "Hickory Hill" that makes their home in Avinger.

Members of the "Lonesome Prairie Band" from Ft. Worth pose near the Vaden Cabin, as they
prepared for Friday night's show.

Great music was provided by each group from the stage that was featured in front of the Old Gregg House and patrons brought their lawn chairs for an evening of quality music. Concessions are available both nights.

These members of the "Hickory Hill Band" of Avinger, Texas, get ready to perform at Friday night's show.

If you didn't make it out on Friday night, Saturday night's show will feature "Brushy Creek," "High Strung," "Blue River," and "Keisler Brothers." Gary Spraggins served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event!

These patrons sat on the front porch and enjoyed Friday night's show.

A pleasant evening was enjoyed by all who attended the Bluegrass in the Park music show, at
Heritage Park.
