Things got a bit "frosty" in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center on both Friday and Saturday nights, and you've heard of "Christmas in July," well, it was "Christmas in April," as the Sulphur Springs Blue Blazes presented their annual Springs Show, 'Tis the Season. The Blue Blazes Drill Team, which is celebrating its 45th year locally, was begun in 1964, and continues to add color and "jazz" to half-time events, and special celebrations, throughout the community. The organization continues as "good will" ambassadors for Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County.

This year's show featured a variety of performances, designed by groups of dancers, and spotlighted all the officers in solo performances, as the show progressed. Two vocal performances, by members of the dance corps, added another demension to the show. Completed in four acts, each portion of the show highlighted one of the seasons of the year.....winter, spring, summer, and fall.

"We wanted to do something different and add color and variety to the show," expressed Christie McCullough. "And, the seasonal reflection on the show emulates the fact that our girls work hard 'year-round' to bring quality shows to the community. We're working on something all the time, from sports performances, to contest material, and individual projects in the community!"

This year's show ended with the traditional "Sister's Circle," when former members of the Drill Team come to the stage and join current members in The Lord's Prayer. "The finale is something that has become a tradition and emphasizes the sisterhood that exists among members of this dance troupe," remarked McCullough. "We have many, many alumni come back for the annual spring show and we want them to be included in the finale, each year!"

Enjoy the photos from this year's outstanding performances!
