SSHS Blue Blazes Present 2010 Spring Show
Revolution
Friday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a "throng" of parents, grandparents, and supporters who crowded the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Auditorium for the first night of two nights, as the Sulphur Springs High School Blue Blazes Drill Team presented "Revolution," their 2010 Spring Showcase. Blue Blazes officers and line members presented individual and group dances to many popular songs from the 1970's to the present as they adopted the theme of "revolutions".....musical, industrial, fashion, political, societal, and futuristic. The show opened with a classroom setting, where students were required to present a class report about each of the historical revolutions, and as the class members made their reports, they introduced the segments of the show.
Officers for the 2009-10 Sulphur Springs Blue Blazes included: Captain Maisie Luna; Co-Captain Sam Ruiz; Lt. Brooklin Sperry; and Lt. Mazie Garner. Each officer performed a traditional solo presentation.

Meanwhile, the future of the Blue Blazes was represented with a performace by the "Blaze Buddies," who showed continued support for the local program, that began back in the 1960's.
Enjoy the following photos from Friday night's performance, and if you missed it, make plans for the re-peat performance, scheduled for Saturday night, at 7:30 p.m., in the Civic Center Auditorium.

The performance ended with the traditional "sister's prayer"....
Congratulations!!!
Blazes, on a Great Show!!!
