Como-Pickton Basketball Camp
Begins Tuesday
by: Bobby McDonald
For some 35 participants, basketball is the main focus, as they attend this week's Como-Pickton Basketball Camp, sponsored by Basketball Coach Joey Sims. The camp is designed for students in the first through the eighth grades, and will focus on the fundamentals of the game. "We'll break the kids into groups, according to their ages and skills levels and work with them on the basics," explained Como-Pickton Head Basketball Coach, Joey Sims. "We hope to have them handling the ball and have a basic understanding of the game of basketball, by the time the finish the camp."
The camp runs daily from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m., and will continue through Friday.

"It's great training for these youth, as they anticipate playing ball in the future," continued Sims. "It's a learning process and the more understanding they can have of the game, the better they will do, when they actually play!"

"All of us need an understanding of the basics and that is what we're hoping to teach, along with having fun all week," expressed Sims. "I've called some of my associates in to help with the camp and have some of my senior high players, that will also be helping with the fundamentals. It should be a fun learning experience for all the youth and we'll work to sharpen their skills in the game of basketball!"
Parents arrived with their children on Tuesday afternoon and were invited to watch, throughout the week, as their kids progressed in the camp.
