Area Lakes Popular Place For
July 4th Weekend Fun
by: Bobby McDonald
Despite some rain showers, area lakes were found to be crowded for the 4th of July weekend, as families came for swimming, BBQing, and water sports. "A little bit of rain never hurt anyone at the lake," commented one boater at Quitman Lake. "You're already wet anyway, so what's a little bit more water!"
Lake Quitman also hosted their annual 4th of July patriotic parade, on Saturday morning, July 3rd, as local residents decorated gold carts, motorcycles and other conveyances to wind down the roads and wave to those watching. Flags waved, beads were thrown, and everyone had a great time!

and pitches beads to the crowd.
Lake Fork and Lake Cypress were also popular destinations on Saturday and Sunday, as local fishermen and boaters took to the lakes to enjoy a weekend of family fun. "It's been so nice and cool, for most of the weekend," expressed one group on Lake Fork. "It's gotten a little bit 'muggy' but all and all, it's been very comfortable at the lake!"

Don't tell little Sam Lawrence that he's too little for the parade. He thought he was
headed for a ride in his Jeep.
And, Landri Lawrence found some time, from a busy schedule, to have a dip in the lake.
With her friend Ayden Koon, with Kody watching over them both!

Residents at Lake Quitman enjoyed a great fireworks show, as cabin owners shot fireworks,
once it became dark and lit-up the sky, in celebration of Independence Day.
