Trojan Baseball Takes
First District Win

The Cumby Trojans took their first district win over the Miller Grove Hornets Tuesday evening 9-2. Miller Grove took the lead early having a 2-0 lead at the top of the first. In the bottom of the first the Trojans answered when Devin Owen hit a RBI triple bringing in Tim Cook then Tanner Gomez hit in Owen to tie the score at 2. Then Jason Wallace gave Cumby the lead for the first time by hitting a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd. Then in the bottom of the 5th inning Owen hit a 3 run homer to give the Trojans the lead for good making it 7-2. The final score would be 9-2.
After giving up only two hits Tim Cook was lights out pitching with 17 strike outs and no given walks and just 1 error in 7 innings.
The Trojans are now 4-5 and 1-0 in district. Cumby continue will play in Fruitvale Friday night at 6:30 as they take on the Fruitvale Bobcats in a non district contest.
