"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall "

Como-Pickton faced off De Kalb in their first district game of their season Friday night. The Eagles had a great pre-season by coming out with wins and they wanted to keep this rally going, but first they had to go against the De Kalb Bears.

It wasn't long before the kick-off and the Eagles forced a fumble that was recovered by Kaleb Mund who took it to the end zone. Followed by Even Tellez PAT putting themselves ahead in the game.

De Kalb didn't lose time and after Tellez's kick-off, the Bears managed to get through the Eagles defense and scored tying the game 7-7.

Both teams went into the second quarter tied.

Just after a little short break and a little pep talk, the Eagles seemed "pumped up" and ready to roll. Tellez kicks off to the 35 yard line and De Kalb lets loose of the ball and Como-Pickton recovers!!

The Eagles let go of this opportunity as De Kalb forced the Eagles to punt, but the Eagles held tight and forced De Kalb for a turnover. This time Como-Pickton didn't lose time and a Pass to Trevor Cagle put the game 14-7 after Tellez's PAT. This seemed to be what the score was going to be for half-time, but just minutes before the 2nd quarter De Kalb scores and puts the game once again in a tie.

After half-time things started to get "heated up" and the fans and football players started to feel the tension of the game.

The Eagles received the ball at their 28 yard line, but a couple of complete passes to Trevor Cagle, and runs by Bryce Steel and Mathew Sharp put the Eagles at the Bears 8 yard line. De Kalb defense started to play rough and stopped the Eagles on 4th down. The Eagles offensive coach played it smart and gave Tellez the thumbs up to kick a 15 yard field goal, which was good and put the Eagles ahead 17-14.

Only 2 minutes until 4th quarter and De Kalb and Como-Pickton started playing with bad conduct which caused both sides to start a conflict. The Eagles had possesion of the ball, but they were forced to punt. De Kalb tried to go long, but Zach Carpenter intercepted giving the Eagles ball possession in the 4th quarter.

The Eagles were "pumped" and ready to play! As they started off at their 45 yard line, Como-Pickton handed the ball a couple of times to Steele and Sharp, but that only put them at the De Kalb 45 yard line. The Eagles tried a long pass, but was intercepted. This interception caused the Eagles a lot of damage as De Kalb Scores with a PAT no good, but it would still give them the lead 20-17.

The Eagles only needed a Field goal to tie the game or a touchdown to give them the win, but the Eagles didn't get the results they wanted as De Kalb forced the Eagles to punt, which lead to the Bears possession of the ball. De Kalb had the intention of not losing at their home place and they set their goal in mind as they scored once again putting the score 27-17.

Como-Pickton wasn't going to let down so easily. With only 1 minutes left Bryce Steele scored for the Eagles. Como-Pickton still had hope, but time was their enemy. De Kalb played it smart and let the clock run down.
