SSHS Wildcat Football’s District to Play “Zone” Games to Determine Playoff Participants Due to COVID-19 Cancellations

Sulphur Springs High School Football is in an 8 team district called District 8-5A. So far this season, COVID-19 has interrupted a number of games within District 8-5A which caused cancellations over weeks 1 and 2. Looking ahead, and by December 4, four playoff district representatives need to be identified for UIL playoff competition.

With game cancellations among other schools in the district, there is not enough time to make up the missed games and determine seeding for the playoffs. Therefore, the District 8-5A Executive Committee has divided our 8-team district into 2 zones. This betters the chances of finishing the season and promoting four teams into the playoffs which will be the top two teams of each zone. The SSHS varsity zone games are scheduled for:
Oct 30 *North Forney 7:30 SS – Gerald Prim Stadium
Nov 6 *Corsicana 7:30 SS – Gerald Prim Stadium
Nov 13 *Greenville 7:30 Greenville

As a result of this zoning plan, the remainder of the football season has been altered. This new schedule was developed by the District 8-5A Executive Committee.

There are dates built in the schedule for any make-up games or seeding games as needed with the other zone.
