The Hopkins-Rains Soil and Water Conservation District presented a scholarship to a local student earlier this week.

HRSWCD board members Andy Wright and Max Palmer presented Kyler Moore with a $1,500 scholarship at the organization’s board meeting on Tuesday. The scholarship was funded by the 2019 HRSWCD Hay Show in which Kyler took third place.

The goals of the Hay Show is to provide agricultural producers an opportunity to test the quality of their forages, raise scholarship funds for area youth who want to study agricultural, and support area FFA and 4-H chapters with natural resources education.

The 2020 Hay Show is scheduled for October 20th. Details about submissions will be released soon.

Any senior can apply for the HRSWCD scholarship. Entering in the Hay Show is not required.

For more information, please contact your local County Agent, or the Hopkins/Rains Soil and Water Conservation District at (903) 885-4433 ext. 3.
