There is a great deal of misinformation and misconception about repentance in the church today. Repentance, rather than being seen as beautiful and powerful, has become viewed as messy and ugly. Religion has turned repentance into a curse or punishment as opposed to empowering and liberating which is what the Lord intended for it to be.
When people picture someone repenting, they think of the Old Testament sackcloth and ashes, tears, depression, and all sorts of grief. The truth of the matter is that when someone truly repents all of those false religious ideas go away. While someone may feel shame and guilt for the sin they’ve committed, if they’ll allow themselves to truly repent, they will leave the shame and guilt behind. Repentance simply means a mind or heart change, a revolution in one’s thought process when it comes to a particular area of their life. When a Christian repents, they choose to start thinking about something the way that God does and leave their old way of thinking behind. This causes a change their behaviors and habits that will walk them out of their current situation and into the life God had intended for them to have all along.

Is there and area in your life that is not as fruitful as it should be? Maybe that area is just a straight up mess. Don’t continue to allow the thought processes and behaviors that got you there to keep you there. Repent! It’s as easy as asking the Lord to give you His thoughts on your situation so you can start lining your thinking up with His. You’re well on your way to a new life of joy and victory. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
