Kenneth was born on June 26, 1936 in Mahoney Community near Sulphur Springs to Earl and Edith (Reynolds) Hopper (Chapman).  His family lived in Orange, TX during the war years so that Earl could work in the Consolidated Shipyard.  Kenneth had fond memories of his formative years on Orange prior to his dad’s passing in 1946.  Kenneth continued school in Sulphur Springs and graduated in 1956. During High School Kenneth started his working career at several area supermarkets, making many lifelong friends and meeting his future wife, Linda Ponder.  He said the moment he saw her at the Quickie Meat Market that he knew she was the girl he would marry.  Seven days after they were married on April 21, 1959 in Hugo, OK, Kenneth departed for San Diego, Ca to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet.  Upon returning to Texas, Kenneth enjoyed working at many jobs and raising cattle to support his family, including positions at Rockwell International, truck driving, and Crystal Feed Mill.  Until the week of his death, he relished his time feeding cows and filling water troughs.
