Hopkins County Economy Returning Strong as Sales Tax Revenue Rebounds in June.

The local economy in Sulphur Springs is rebounding from the COVID-19 shutdowns with a 7% increase in sales tax revenue for June 2020 when compared to June 2019.

The City is now only down 0.24% year-to-date in 2020 compared to 2019. The net payment for June was $584,173.50.
Como and Cumby both reportedly increased over 47% versus the prior year.
Como is up 45% year to date and Cumby is up 10.76%.
Statewide there was a 6.5% drop in sales tax revenue for June 2020, according to Comptroller Glenn Hegar.
